4 Ways to Drive Down Company Costs Without Affecting Employee Salaries

Posted on July 9, 2018 by Aaron

You have lots of options when it comes to reducing your overhead costs for your business. Some of more focused on the process of manufacturing so that you can save some money. Here are some solutions to reducing company costs without having to cut salaries.

Track Supply Usage

Many businesses buy supplies that they don’t need or purchase too many items. This can cause your costs to be driven up. Implement a system in which you track your monthly supply usage. This could be with office supplies or even supplies that are used during the manufacturing process. You may be surprised at the amount of money that you can save by keeping tighter controls on your supply usage. A simple spreadsheet and a monthly inventory may be all that you need to get the process started.

Focus on Energy Consumption

You may be like a lot of other businesses and using more energy than is necessary. You can cut down on your energy consumption by installing more efficient options. Lighting and some of your equipment may benefit from replacement. For example, air dryers could cut down on the amount of energy that you consume on the manufacturing floor. These function by drying and filtering the air. Air cycling uses less energy and tends to require less maintenance.

Look to Advertising Needs

There may be a lower cost of advertising that is more effective for your business needs. Look to forms of free advertising to help lower your overhead costs. There may also be other forms of advertising that you hadn’t considered. These may be a cheaper alternative to promote your business’ growth potential. Examine the amount of benefit that you’re receiving from your current marketing campaign. There may be areas in which you can improve about this budget.

Utilize New Technology to Improve Efficiency

Newer forms of technology may be more efficient for your needs. An example of this is in the manufacturing process. You may be able to produce more product using less time and energy with an upgraded piece of equipment. There are also newer forms of information storage that you can consider, such as a cloud based system. This may reduce your budget in terms of how much you have to spend on information storage for your servers.

Come up with creative ways that you can reduce your expenses without having to impact your employees. Use these tips to get you started on the process of reducing your monthly overhead expenditures.
