What You Should Provide Your Employees?

Posted on April 27, 2017 by Aaron

Employees provide the services that companies need in order to keep running. But employers also need to provide something for their workers so that they would keep being productive and continue to stay with the company. Provisions especially with giving them the right ones can help retain people. It makes them be more productive and happy at what they are doing. So, what exactly should employers provide their employees to achieve this?

Benefits Program

For many employees, the benefits that a company offers are just as or even more important than the salary they’re presented with. A good benefits program can not only lure potential employees to your company, it can also be the reason for employee retention. Career growth, incentives as well as outings promotes interaction among employees, and allowing them to get to know each other outside the confines of the office is not only fun, but it can also solidify relationships and help boost employee morale. Company outings can be extravagant quarterly trips or even simple monthly dinners.

Safe Workplace

The workplace must not only be conducive for utmost productivity, it should also be safe for everyone in it. This includes making sure the infrastructure is sound, and that there is ample security personnel to keep threats from entering the office premises. Also, ensuring a drug-free environment is also necessary, considering all the negative effects that drug abuse can cause a person and the people around him. This is why regular drug test and random drug checks are necessary and required by the government.

An Individual Space

Work can sometimes be too much and too stressful. Providing a chill-out space within your office vicinity can help workers who are too stressed and burned out by allowing them space to relax and regroup before getting right back to work. This can often cause better productivity, less friction among staff members, and overall helps in maintaining a pleasant working environment for everyone.

Schedule flexibility

While not all types of businesses can apply schedule flexibility, it is something that employers can offer that may make your business more appealing to work for. The option to work from home is similarly appealing, especially during times when workers have family members to take care of due to sickness and simply can’t find anyone else to look over them on their behalf. Schedule flexibility and work-from-home opportunities are great things to offer to employees in certain businesses.

Exercise Access

Work stress can employees to feel burned out, which does not bode well for the remaining tasks on that employee’s desk that still needs to be completed. One great way of reducing stress is by exercising, so having a room for exercise in your company can be a big help in keeping your workers fit and healthy. If space is a problem, you can also offer a membership discount at a local gym.

Paid and unpaid time off opportunities

There are certain times in life where our presence is absolutely necessary, such as the birth of a child or a death of a family member. Offering opportunities for employees to be able to go on a paid or unpaid time off for such events shows consideration, this can be seen positively by the employee and nurture loyalty.

Different companies offer different salary ranges and benefits and prospective employees often chose which company to work for based on their benefit packages. Employers need to keep in mind that happy workers result in better output and less attrition.
