This is not something that is used strictly for tracking individuals and determining when someone is on the premises that should not be there. Instead, it can also be used to see who was involved during the occurrence of an, thereby getting them help as quickly as possible.
An access control system goes hand-in-hand with the CCTV system. The last thing you want to do is allow someone into the building premises who really doesn’t have any business being there in the first place.
The truth of the matter is that individuals who work in buildings at all hours of the day are even more prone to needing this type of protection. This is because keeping people out of the building, who shouldn’t be there, automatically becomes a priority
In reality, access control equipment is something that should be carefully thought out by every commercial building manager because it is used to keep everyone safe regardless of the situation.
If you are going to have the previous two systems, it would be almost silly not to include an intruder alarm. Some buildings, like banks and certain government buildings, need to have these alarms in various locations, while others can get by with a single alarm system.
Regardless of the type of structure that is in question, having an intruder alarm, that can be pressed so that a message is sent directly the local police, is invaluable when it comes to keeping people safe.
What public building would be complete without a comprehensive fire alarm system present? There isn’t a public building in existence that should be operating without the ability to both notify the local fire department of a problem and then pinpoint where that problem is occurring.
In addition, a sprinkler system should also be included, as well as fire alarm equipment like standpipes and fire extinguishers. Otherwise, both the general public and the employees who work inside that building are putting themselves at risk.
As part of the fire alarm system, exits should be clearly marked and fire alarms should be practiced on a regular basis so that employees and customers know exactly what to do in the event that something actually does occur. Otherwise, the people who are operating the building are putting themselves in a situation where they could potentially be held liable for anything that does happen, simply because they haven’t prepared adequately.
In addition to all of these other systems, a carbon monoxide system should be in place. Some people would argue that this is part of the fire alarm system, but the reality of the situation is that a lot of public buildings have a fire alarm and have absolutely nothing to detect carbon monoxide.
Therefore, it is imperative that building owners and managers think of them as two separate systems, if that is what it takes to ensure that this is not a problem. It is something that is completely preventable, as long as an alarm system is in place, so it makes no sense whatsoever to allow something to happen when it could be so easily avoided.
All of these systems should be used simultaneously in order to ensure the safety of individuals. Otherwise, none of the employees or the general public can really consider themselves safe. That is why it is so important that the managers, as well as the owners of public buildings, take this situation seriously and do everything they can to ensure that everyone is kept as safe as possible!
