NE - Nebraska Human Resource Labor Laws
Below is a list of employment laws we monitor and provide for Nebraska.
Example law for this state: Child Support
The Nebraska Child Support Payment Center (NCSPC) was created by a Federal Mandate to centralize the collection and payment of child support monies. The NCSPC is a division of the Nebraska State Treasurer's office contracted by the Nebraska Health & Human Services System. The NCSPC is currently responsible for receiving and disbursing an average of $19 million in child support payments/month for more that 43,000 families.
Employers that have received withholding orders and are garnishing child support from their employees must remit those monies to the NCSPC. This makes it easier for employers as they only have to make payments to one location within Nebraska.
There are five different options for employers to pay:
ACH Debit & Web - Employee information and payment sent on the website
Check & Web - Employee information sent on the website and send one check
ACH Credit & Web - Employee information sent on website and your bank sends the payment electronically
ACH Credit with Remittance - Employee information and payment sent electronically with a bank file in a CCD+ or CTX file format
Check & Remittance Form - Send a remittance form with check - Remittance forms are available on the website under Forms & Publications
NCSPC WEBSITE
Nebraska is one of the few States in which you have the opportunity to transmit your employee information and even make a payment through our website, www.nebraskachildsupport.com. The website is fast, convenient and free to use. It reduces check and mail handling costs for both the employer and the State Treasurer's Office. It also produces a big savings for taxpayers.
Employers served with a child support order must begin withholding with the first pay period after 14 days from the time the order is served. Amounts are to be remitted within 7 days of payday. It is the employers responsibility to notify the county within 30 days if the employee terminates.
